Journal Blog # 4

During the Summer Scholar I had the opportunity to take an English class having as teacher Shila Rocha.
I think that the class is very interesting and let me learn new ways to write about myself. However, I did not learned only about English I also learned about the Native American 's history thanks to Shila that brought two guess speakers to the class. Plus, I got the opportunity to earn college credits.
Shila is really nice and always helped/explained me when I needed. She gave us the time that we needed to get done the work and had the patience to wait if we needed more time.
I really like the way she thought the class when she spoke in Spanish and then repeat it in English so eveyone understand it. Plus, she let us to write the work on our native languege and then in English it does not matter if she did not understand the language.
Also, I think that college 101 and English Study Group were interesting. College 101 helped me to know more about universities and scholarships by the assigments that Maria gave to us.

Now I'll talk about my experience at the career shadowing. I got to meet Antonia Correa.Antonia is a very nice person and adviser. Antonia told me about a Cereer Assesment.Antonia told that the Career Assesmsnt will tell me if I am in the right place of what I want to do. She told ask me why do I want to be Substance Abuse Counsuler. Then, she told me thing that made think if I really wanted to be Substance Abuse Counselor. I'll do the Career Assesment to be sure. I thank Maria, Lina, Antonia, and everyone that made this possible.

Journal Blog # 2

*The most important achivement that I have is to learn English. To communicate with the people here. Also, to adapt to here. To its culture and traditions. However at the same time not to forget my own culture and traditions.

*The most important issue that matter to me is immigration. Immigration is a big toppic and everyone is talking about it. However not everyone has suffered it as I did. I've heared many things just because I MEXICANA. People look at me wird and talk about me because of me background. This affect me but at the same time I try not to pay too much attention to it.

* The persons that have been an influence to me are those who have been living with me all my life. Those that are always there when I need them, when I need an advice about life or school,when I need help from them. This persons always tell me what to do or not to do.

* I want to go to UNO. I want to go there because Know that I've been here I can see how the things are here. I do not want to risk and try another school that maybe I won't like.

Journal Blog #1

*The classes were the most encouranging and motivating to me because I like to try or difficult things and I though that the classes would be hard to me for the level, but I dixcovered that they're not that hard.

*The most challenging to me was when we went to the camps, because I'm scared of heights. However with the help of my team mates I did all the work. It was not that fun to me, but it was ok.

*One thing that I learn about myself is that I'm not prepare to leave my parents. While being in the dorms I missed a lot my parants and sisters, I missed all my family.

*To be taking the college classes and to stay in the dorms have made a great difference in my prespective of college life. Know I know that college life is not as complicate as I used to think.
